Do you know how to prepare your body for those unexpected moments that throw you off balance and cause accidents? (Hint: It’s more than standing on one leg!)

We don’t pay much attention to improving our balance until we feel at risk. But – like other matters of the body – balance follows the “use-it-or-lose-it” principle. So if you aren’t challenging your balance, it will only worsen and challenge you eventually.

This workshop will teach you the multi-part recipe to be steady and ready for your favorite activities. You’ll learn what body systems contribute to steadiness (or UNsteadiness!), and how to use this knowledge to prepare yourself for the uneven surfaces – and events – in your life.

What You'll Learn

This highly educational and interactive experience is filled with insights and ideas that will teach you…

  • Practical exercises for real-life steadiness (beyond standing on one leg!)
  • Why regular walking is good, but not enough.
  • What body systems contribute to steadiness (or UNsteadiness), and how to use this knowledge to prepare yourself for the uneven surfaces – and events – in your life.
  • Hidden factors working against you so that you can address them.

While it’s never too late to improve our balance, it’s much better to start before we feel threatened – or worse – have an injury or illness that makes improvement harder.

This workshop is for you if...

  • You don’t have a regular (2+ times/week) balance-focused regimen, especially if you’re over 50.
  • You’re hesitant to challenge yourself with new activities or environments because you’re concerned about your steadiness.
  • You are an active person (exerciser or not) who wants to remain active as long as possible!
  • You are sedentary and want to improve steadiness on your feet, so you can move more confidently and become more active.
  • You have had an ankle, knee, or hip injury.
  • Your posture needs improving (yes, this is related!)
  • You plan to travel and navigate new environments.
